The environmental industry is characterised by its sales volume, the number of people employed in the renewables sector and the volume of environmental investments.
The environmental industry used to be an engine of economic growth in the early 2000s, but growth stalled with the economic crisis. The renewables business is developing much more slowly than in neighbouring countries.
